Ewan and Blunt go Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

Lionsgate U.K. is producing its second British feature, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,” alongside BBC Films and Paul Webster at Kudos Pictures and is selling the title at the Cannes market.
Lasse Hallstrom will direct the romantic comedy, which stars Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas.

“Slumdog Millionaire” screenwriter Simon Beaufoy penned “Fishing,” which follows an ordinary Englishman’s path of self-discovery as he becomes involved in a project that makes Yemen a new home for salmon.

Lionsgate U.K. CEO Zygi Kamasa, who brokered the deal with Webster and Paula Jalfon of BBC Films, said that it was a “fantastic opportunity” for the company to work on a “charming British romantic comedy.”
