“An Education” producers Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey are developing Nick Hornby’s bestselling novel “A Long Way Down” for the bigscreen.
Backed by Film4, the pic is set to shoot in the U.K. next spring. Screenwriter Jack Thorne has nearly completed adapting the screenplay.
The dark comedy follows two women and two men who meet on New Year’s Eve on the roof of a tall building called Topper’s House with the intent of killing themselves. Eventually their thoughts of suicide subside as they interact and begin to relate to each other.
“It’s a very life-affirming story,” Dwyer said. “The characters are fantastic in the book and we’re really excited to be developing the project.”
Cast and director have yet to be decided.
