New titles from Network DVD in July 2010.

The Fosters – Series 1
- The first sitcom written both for and starring black actors. Showcased the early work of Lenny Henry (riding high on a recent win in talent series New Faces) as the budding artist son of the easygoing family-man Samuel Foster (Norman Beaton, who would go on to gain major fame in 90s comedy Desmond’s).

The Gaffer – Series 2 – Bill Maynard (Oh No, it’s Selwyn Froggitt!) is the gaffer Fred Moffatt; the tight-fisted yet quick-thinking director of a small light-engineering firm, in this cleverly scripted, bittersweet sitcom.

Hallelujah – Series 2 - Thora Hird stars as indefatigable Salvation Army Captain Emily Ridley in this popular sitcom, which reunites her with In Loving Memory creator and writer Dick Sharples.

The Mind of JG Reeder – Complete Series (general release, previously web exclusive) – This classic Thames drama series is based on the short stories by Edgar Wallace. Features one of the unlikeliest of fictional sleuths: a mild-mannered, bespectacled civil servant at the Department of Public Prosecutions. Starring Hugh Burden and Willoughby Goddard.

Mystery and Imagination – Complete Series
(general release, previously web exclusive) – A distinguished cast in this collection of Gothic tales includes Ian Holm (Chariots of Fire), Denholm Elliot (Indiana Jones), Patrick Mower (Callan) and Freddie Jones (The Elephant Man), who gives an astonishing performance as the demented barber, Sweeney Todd.

Surgical Spirit – Series 6
– this was a hugely successful sitcom, running for seven series between 1989 and 1995. This complete sixth series, featuring scripts by Graeme Garden among other contributors, was originally screened in 1994.

The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club
– Series 2 – The legendary Bernard Manning comperes the events at the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club – the friendliest working men’s club in the North… give order!
