Alberto Cavalcanti season at the BFI

In July, the BFI is celebrating director Alberto Cavalcanti, who began making French modernist films and then introduced cosmopolitan panache to British documentary.

The centrepiece of the season will be Cavalcanti’s Went the Day Well. Films include the noirish thriller They Made me a Fugitive, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Champagne Charlie and For Them That Trespass. The season opens on 3 July 2010 at BFI Southbank and in selected cinemas nationwide.
