Ecosse Films is developing a feature adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ tome “On Green Dolphin Street.”
The project reunites Ecosse co-toppers Douglas Rae and Robert Bernstein with “Becoming Jane” scribe Kevin Hood, who has already penned the script.
The tale, set in New York, Washington and briefly Moscow in 1959 against the backdrop of the Cold War, follows the love affair of Mary, an English rose, and Frank, a Chicago journalist. Mary, who is married to diplomat Charlie, soon becomes torn between the love of these two men.
Cast has yet to be confirmed but Rae said it would be a “great part for an English actress and Humphrey Bogart-type.” The film is due to shoot in Canada next year on a budget of under $20m.
