Cameron Diaz has joined Colin Firth in “Gambit,” the remake of the 1966 comedy that starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine.
Shooting will start in London in May with Michael Hoffman directing from a script by Joel and Ethan Coen. Mike Lobell is producing alongside Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris.
Firth will portray a London art curator planning an elaborate scheme to con a wealthy collector into buying a fake Monet painting. He recruits a Texas steer roper, played by Diaz, to act the part of a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
