London-based Embargo Films has joined Vertigo Films to co-produce Nick Love’s “The Sweeney,” a bigscreen update of the 1970s ITV cop series.
“The Sweeney,” which starts shooting in London next week, stars Ray Winstone and Ben Drew as tough detectives in the Flying Squad, the London police unit dedicated to fighting armed robbery.
Script is by Love and John Hodge. Budget is £3.5 million.
