The Britmovie site was created in 1998 as a diminutive reaction to the excess of film websites devoted to contemporary Hollywood blockbusters; with only a handful focusing on Britain’s rich cinema heritage.
Over the years the site has evolved, always attempting to be a platform for those across the globe seeking information, discussion and assistance on British film throughout its turbulent history. The most common question is why ‘movie’, isn’t that an oxymoron? Yes it is, but at the point of inception there was no available ‘film’ or ‘cinema’ domain and the moniker ‘Britmovie’ came to exhibit an unexpected symmetry that was both fitting and memorable.
