Brenda De Banzie

Sometimes credited as Brenda DeBanza, Brenda De Banzie made her stage debut in 1935. Her first film role was Mrs. Rogers in the psychological melodrama The Long Dark Hall (1951). Significant success soon arrived when Brenda was cast as Charles Laughton‘s industrious daughter Maggie in director David Lean’s Hobson’s Choice (1954). After portraying Terry-Thomas’ kidnapped wife in the crime caper Too Many Crooks (1958), Brenda landed the role of Laurence Olivier’s alcoholic wife in Tony Richardson’s adaptation of John Osborne’s The Entertainer (1960).
