Charles Hawtrey

Bespectacled comic actor who made a whole career out of snooty schoolboys, especially in Will Hay comedies. Dark-haired Hawtrey, from a theatrical family, started in show business as a child: on radio: after brief fame as a boy soprano, he was the voice of Norman Bones, boy detective in children's programmes for many years.
