Robert Stevenson studied at Cambridge college before moving on to writing
and directing from the 1930's onwards; notably Tudor
Rose (1936) and King
Solomon's Mines (1937). Directed three Ealing films in rapid succession
before leaving for America and a prosperous Hollywood career including
Back Street (1941) and Jane Eyre (1944). Joined Walt Disney in 1957
and directed hits such as Mary Poppins (1964), Bedknobs and Broomsticks
(1961), Old Yeller (1957), The Absent-Minded Professor (1961) and The
Love Bug (1968).
