Ken Russell dies aged 84

British film director Ken Russell, who was Oscar-nominated for his 1969 film Women In Love, has died at the age of 84. His son, Alex, said he died peacefully in his sleep in a hospital on Sunday. During his career, he became known for his controversial films including Women In Love, which featured Oliver Reed and Alan Bates wrestling nude. Cult BBC TV show Doctor Who is set to be made into a Hollywood movie, a leading director has said. David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films, told Variety magazine he is working on developing a feature film with the BBC. He said the film would take a fresh approach to the show, which first appeared on TV in 1963. Dulcie Gray, one of the best-loved British screen and stage actors of the second half of the last century, died earlier today reports The Stage from bronchial pneumonia in the actors’ residential care home, Denville Hall. She was 95. New James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ unveiled

The new James Bond film "Skyfall" was unveiled on Thursday, with Daniel Craig returning as 007, half a century after the superspy's first appearance on the silver screen. The Sweeney movie to begin shooting

London-based Embargo Films has joined Vertigo Films to co-produce Nick Love's "The Sweeney," a bigscreen update of the 1970s ITV cop series. "The Sweeney," which starts shooting in London next week, stars Ray Winstone and Ben Drew as tough detectives in the Flying Squad, the London police unit dedicated to fighting armed robbery.
