Plot SynopsisAnthony Asquith's film adaptation George Bernard Shaw's
stage play. The world's most wealthy woman Epifania Parerga (Sophia
Loren) is an imperious heiress who thinks money can buy anything, Epifania's
one wish is to be married; but her first marriage to Alistair (Gary
Raymond), ended badly and she wants another opportunity for happiness.
When she meets altruistic Indian doctor (Peter Sellers) who seems to
care nothing for affluence or status, she decides that he is the man
for her - but he won't sell his principles, or his love so it is up
her to make the doctor see things her way. Excerpt© 'Puffin Asquith' by R.J. Minney. |
