Plot Synopsis

13 East Street

Above average crime quota-quickie directed by Robert S. Baker from a script by John Gilling. This typical crime melodrama generates some fresh suspense here from the familiar theme and boasts plenty of London exterior locations and a lively chase climax. Patrick Holt’s screen partner was his then real wife, Sonia Holm, and his was cast alongside future spouse Sandra Dorne.

Following a spate of heists on London docks, Scotland Yard Insp. Gerald Blake (Patrick Holt) goes undercover by posing as a jewel thief to ingratiate himself with happy-go-lucky petty crook Joey Long (Michael Balfour). Together they escape custody during a train journey and Long introduce Blake to the gang of warehouse breakers working out of the East Street premises of haulier Larry Conn (Robert Ayres).

Blake wins the trust of Conn and his moll, Judy (Sandra Dorne), but following the arrest of a gang accomplice for receiving stolen goods, the undercover cop comes under suspicion of one of the crooks, Mack (Michael Brennan). When Blake attempts to tip-off his police contact about a forthcoming raid on a fur warehouse near St Paul’s, he is observed by Mack and his life put in imminent danger.
