Band Waggon

Farcical musical extravaganza based on the popular ‘Band Waggon’ BBC radio show The films plot is slender and is merely a vehicle for to present a number of music hall numbers and comedy routines.

‘Big-Hearted’ Arthur Askey, Richard ‘Stinker’ Murdoch and Lewis the goat live happily on the roof of Broadcasting House until BBC exec Claude Pilkington discovers them. Meanwhile,Pilkington has to deal with the Jack Hylton Band who will go to extraordinary lengths to earn audition at the BBC. Newly homeless Arthur and Stinker takeover a haunted Sussex castle, and when they find broadcasting apparatus in the basement they convert it into a TV station for Arthur, Stinker, Pat Kirkwood and the Jack Hylton Band.
