Carry On Cruising – 1962 | 89mins | Comedy | Colour
Plot Synopsis

A life on the ocean wave with the Carry On crew! Captain Crowther (Sid James) is the long- suffering Captain of the luxury cruise liner S.S. Happy Wanderer. Sid’s lot is not a happy one, five of his crew have to be replaced at short notice before the voyage begins, and with little time there isn’t much to choose from. Sid wants to gain control of a brand new ocean liner – and the bemused, confused and, ultimately, endearing meddling of those around him sees these plans changed. Kenneth Williams is there again as a big-headed, supercilious, warmly flamboyant officer, as is Kenneth Connor as the nervy, big-hearted, lovesick medical man.
Like the past Carry Ons, Cruising sees the smooth running of a national institution disrupted and destroyed by a mad collection of comic situations, misadventures and memorable characters – tirelessly cheerful Cyril Chamberlain, Jimmy Thompson’s sympathetic bar man, Ronnie Stevens’ pathetic drunken traveller, Brian Rawlinson’s comic shyness, Liz Fraser, seductively resisting male temptation and Esma Cannon as the frenzied aged passenger who leaves the younger guests standing. Raise the anchor!
