Plot Synopsis

Strictly predictable crime quota-quickie starring real-life newly-weds Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim.

Boyhood friends Dave Robinson (Bill Owen) and Ted Peters (Richard Attenborough) have been in the Army together. After being demobbed, earnest young Ted becomes a taxi driver and transports his old friend across London to the Palais de Danse. After stopping at a café for refreshment, Ted returns to his cab and subsequently finds Dave lying dead in the back seat. Scotland Yard have few clues, so Ted returns to the dance hall to investigate; aided by girlfriend, Joy (Sheila Sim), who gets a job as a dance hostess in order to help. The dance hall is the cover for a gang of black marketeers led by Gregory (Barry Jones) and Baker (Barry K. Barnes) with whom Robinson had become involved following the war. When Ted appears to be getting too close, the gang attempt to have him killed, but he survives. Joy overhears the gang plotting a warehouse break-in and tips off Ted.
