Doctor Blood’s Coffin
Doctor Blood’s Coffin – 1960 | 92 mins | Horror | Colour
Plot Synopsis

Doctor Blood’s Coffin (1960) was gruesomely ridiculous blend of Grand Guignol and science fiction with a flavour of Frankenstein. Independent producers Caralan collaborated with United Artists for this cheap and cheerful programme filler enhanced by its Cornish tin-mine setting. Sidney J Furie’s direction lends a certain charm to this cardboard suspense shocker but he has little to work with here due to Jerry Juran’s comical script. The acting is solid; Keiron Moore is impressive as the romantic lead torn between science and evil, whilst scream queen Hazel Court breezes through the film.
In a deep and disused Cornish tin mine, young biochemist Peter Blood (Kieron Moore) is carrying out grisly experiments designed to re-animate corpses and giving life to the dead and the undead: those he has built himself. The fiendish doctor digs up from the grave the dead husband of his nurse, Linda Parker (Hazel Court), and gives the green and mossy body new life. as he wanted her for himself but she rejected him.
