Plot Synopsis

Here Come the Huggetts

Domestic comedy about the comic adventures of an everyday cockney family, the Huggetts, as they go about their mundane daily activities. Following on from the success of Holiday Camp (1947), Rank reunited the principal characters, including Jack Warner and Kathleen Harrison. The supporting cast includes many popular figures from British post-war cinema. Vote for Huggett (1947) and The Huggetts Abroad (1948) quickly followed.

Life is uneventful for the Huggett family in Strutham; father Joe Huggett departs for work as usual, wife Ethel has to deal with the everyday chores and engineers installing of a new telephone, daughter Jane works at the local library and youngest daughter Pet heads off to school. The arrival of niece Diana, a glamorous blonde, causes ructions within the household. She nearly costs Mr. Huggett his job at the factory, and causes further complications in the family by stealing Mr. Huggett’s car, crashing it she ends up in prison for 7 days.
