Plot Synopsis

Michael and Mary

In Michael and Mary, Mary Rowe (Edna Best), a young woman finds herself alone and destitute when her caddish husband flees abroad with her jewels. Mary is a secretary working for writer Michael (Herbert Rowe), he befriends her and they go on to risk a bigamous marriage. A quarter of a century later, Michael has become famous and on the day their son becomes engaged, their prosperous family life is threatened by the first husbands return. Michael strikes the errant husband during a scuffle, and the man dies from a subsequent heart attack. The family concoct an elaborate cover story to prevent Michael from going to jail.
