Plot Synopsis

Based upon the sprawling Alan Warner novel of the same name, the slow-moving Morvern Callar is Lynne Ramsay’s eagerly awaited follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut movie Ratcatcher (1999).
Morvern Callar (Samantha Morton) is a 21 year-old supermarket worker from a small port town in the west of Scotland. Morvern believes that life is something that you get on with as best you can with what you’ve got. On Christmas morning Morvern wakes to find her writer boyfriend dead on the kitchen floor after he commits suicide. But she doesn’t tell anyone and covers the death up, then takes an unpublished novel he left on floppy disk, sells it as her own, and journeys to Ibiza with her best friend Lanna (Kathleen McDermott) to live a club hopping life.
