Mutiny on the Buses
Mutiny on the Buses – 1972 | 89 mins | Comedy | Colour
Plot Synopsis

Reg Varney, Stephen Lewis, Bob Grant and Anna Karen are aboard for this slapstick-heavy second spin-off from the popular TV comedy series which looks extremely dated today and will fail to even raise a smile with non-fans of the series. The writers rely on a cavalcade of well-worn comic situations from the series including Blakey’s officialdom, busty clippies, Olive and Arthur’s marriage and layabouts Stan and Jack’s work-shy shenanigans.
Incompetent London double-decker driver Stan Butler (Reg Varney) is struggling to raise enough money to marry his engaged sweetheart Susy, and the rest of his family frown at the suggestion as they depend on his earnings, so he decides to teach his recently-redundant brother-in-law Arthur (Michael Robbins) how to follow in his footsteps and drive a bus. Meanwhile, at the Town and District Bus Co mayhem ensues when a new General Manager demands a string of new regulations are adhered to including uniforms only to work, two-way radio and new fire-fighting equipment in the depot. The film’s finale is a comic set-piece involving Stan and Blakey taking a treacherous spin through Windsor Safari Park.
