Plot Synopsis

Farcical sex-comedy based on the long-running West End play by Ray Cooney about a womanising furrier trying to provide his mistress with a cheap mink coat. There are half-naked women aplenty, underwear everywhere, tricky situations and doubles entendres galore in this very stagy bedroom farce. A cast of popular farceurs including Leslie Phillips, Barbara Windsor and Joan Sims can’t save this quintessential cumbersome Seventies comedy. Veterans husband-and-wife team Jack Hulbert and Cicely Courtneidge, whose film careers glittered during the Thirties, are for the final time.

Bodley, Bodley and Crouch are exclusive London furriers of distinction. Whilst his wife is on holiday, amorous Gilbert Bodley (Leslie Phillips) attempts to supply his mistress, Janie McMichael (Julie Ege), with a £5000 mink coat for £500, but Mr McMichael (Derren Nesbitt) becomes suspicious of the low price and storms out of the furriers following an argument with his wife. Janie loves the mink and refuses to leave without it, so throws all her clothes from the window and wraps herself in the fur coat. Complications ensue when firstly Mr McMichael returns, wishing to buy the mink for his mistress (Barbara Windsor), and worse still, Mrs Bodley (Moira Lister) returns from France.
