Rentadick
Rentadick – 1972 | 94 mins | Comedy | Colour
Plot Synopsis

Bawdy British spy spoof written by Monty Python’s John Cleese and Graham Chapman, who then disowned the project and had their names removed from the credits, with satire-generation veterans John Wells and John Fortune drafted in to complete the script. This has the pedigree to be an exceptional satire but the finished scattershot comedy is sexist, unfunny, shambolic and stunningly politically-incorrect. It’s quite surprising to see such a starry cast in such tosh; – Donald Sinden, Michael Bentine, Spike Milligan, Richard Briers, Ronald Fraser, Kenneth Cope and a young Richard Beckinsale.
Upton Security is an investigation agency managed by Major Upton (Ronald Fraser), and boasting a number of incompetent private detectives. They are hired by chemical industrialist Geoffrey Armitage (Donald Sinden) to follow his wanton wife Utta (Julie Ege). Also employing Upton’s detectives is Chinese spy, Madam Greenfly (Tsai Chin), who hire Hamilton (James Booth) and Miles Gannet (Richard Briers) to steal a nerve gas formulated by Armitage Chemicals that paralyses from the waist down. Confusion ensues at Upton’s incompetent detectives are employed at both guarding and attempting to steal the revolutionary nerve gas.
