Plot Synopsis

Strumpet

Produced for BBC television, Danny Boyle’s DV “Dogme” film Strumpet is an extraordinary tale of comic, chaotic characters living in an anarchic English urban landscape. Strayman (Christopher Eccleston) is a spontaneous street poet who is landlord to a pack of stray dogs. Unable to resist another of life’s strays, he hooks up with Strumpet (Jenna G), a shy homeless girl with an exceptional gift for music. Knockoff (Stephen Walters), Strayman’s neighbour and an aspiring manager, overhears them singing Strayman’s sporadic poetry to the soaring strains of Strumpet’s guitar. Knockoff pronounces the birth of a new musical sensation, and the three of them set off for London in search of fame, fortune and Top of the Pops.
