Plot Synopsis

The Constant Husband

Rex Harrison is The Constant Husband in this sparkling Frank Launder/Sidney Gilliatt production. Harrison stars as Charles Hathaway, the husband who awakens in a Welsh port from a prolonged bout of amnesia to discover that he is simultaneously married to seven women. With the aid of ebullient psychiatrist Llewellyn (Cecil Parker), Charles tries to recollect his past life and learns to his disgust that he is a cad and bigamist. In order to avoid the collective fury of seven wives, Charles opts for prison, accused of bigamy! Disapproving female lawyer Miss Chesterman (Margaret Leighton) tries to keep Charles out of jail; but he’s far too charming to stay behind bars for long.
