The Golden Bowl – 2000 | 126 mins | Drama | Colour
Plot Synopsis

Merchant Ivory adaptation of the Henry James novel set in England in the early 1900s. Uma Thurman plays socialite Charlotte Stant, who marries wealthy American art collector Adam Verver (Nick Nolte) and is soon rekindling an affair with an old flame, Prince Amerigo (Jeremy Northam), now married to Nolte’s daughter (Kate Beckinsale). With supporting performances from Angelica Huston, James Fox and a script by regular Merchant Ivory contributor Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, this is a typically meticulous period drama from the masters of the genre.
