Plot Synopsis

The Limping Man

Fleeing the HUAC blacklist, Lloyd Bridges came toEngland to star in a couple of b-movie crime thrillers. This run of the mill crimedrama has an inventive plot about a mysterious assassin and gradually buildsthe suspense, but is marred by a ridiculous ending that detracts from all thathas passed. Comedy actor Leslie Phillips makes an early appearance in astraight role as a policeman and Rachel Roberts is briefly glimpsed as abarmaid.

On returning to Britain to pick up the threads of awartime affair with an actress girlfriend, American former GI Frank Prior (LloydBridges) finds himself caught up in a murder inquiry when a fellow passenger,Kendall Brown, is assassinated as he disembarks. Prior’s wartime sweetheart is actressPauline French (Moira Lister), ironically herself a crack shot with a rifle,and the dead man had a picture of her in his possession. Scotland Yard DetectiveCameron (Leslie Phillips) is assigned to the case, and Prior and Ms Frenchbecome his chief suspects. Meanwhile, it transpires that Kendall Brown is aliveand well, and wishing to slip out of the country in a motor launch.
