Plot Synopsis

Based on an episode from TV’s Alfred Hitchcock Presents, this well-done psychological thriller from Basil Dearden stars Roger Moore as an executive who survives a car accident with intriguing consequences.
While driving home one evening, business executive Harold Pelham (Roger Moore) appears to become possessed and suffers a nasty car accident. Pelham is taken to hospital and undergoes an operation, while on the operating table he is clinically dead for a few minutes – allowing a sinister double to escape from his body. The alter ego begins living Pelham’s life with hitherto unforeseen vigour. Returning after a long convalescence, Pelham discovers that his doppelganger is undermining business decisions, has embarked on an affair with a woman he met only once, and renewed Pelham’s long-dormant sex life with his wife. Pelham finally confronts his gregarious double, and the two begin a car chase from which only one will survive,
