The Spare Tyres
The Spare Tyres – 1967 | 27 mins | Comedy | Colour
Plot Synopsis

The Spare Tyres was a half-hour short comedy shot in Chiswick and featuring veteran character-actor Terence Alexander attempting to dispose of two old tyres.
Dennis (Terence Alexander) and his wife Audrey (Judy Franklin) move into a delightful new suburban home but have two old tyres cluttering the lawn. Audrey demands that Dennis remove them immediately and not return until he has done so. Disposing of them is not as straightforward as Dennis assumed, as the wayward tyres destroy his neighbour’s greenhouse and later knocks a young child off his trike. When Dennis does finally arrive at the council tip an officious foreman (Frank Finlay) demands an SD 451 before he will accept the tyres.
Further attempts to rid himself of the bothersome tyres in the Thames fails until Dennis finally disposes of them on a train; but when he finally returns home in the early evening it transpires he wife has a nasty surprise in store.
