The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes
The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes – 1935 | 84 mins | Crime, Drama | B&W
Plot Synopsis

Brisk if messy Sherlock Holmes mystery that is faithfully adapted from Conan Doyle’s The Valley of Fear. The fourth of Arthur Wonter’s quintet of Sherlock Holmes films, Ian Fleming returns as Watson and Lyn Harding makes the first of two appearances as Moriarty.
Holmes is preparing for his retirement to a bee farm in Sussex, when he is paid a visit in Baker Street by his nemesis Professor Moriarty and warned not to return. Of course Holmes ignores Moriarty’s threat after he comes to suspect the villain is responsible for a mysterious murder at Birlstone Castle. The murder of American Pinkerton agent John Douglas, who had moved to the British countryside to escape vengeful gangster Ted Balding, appears to be tied in with a secret American society of coal-miners called the Scowlers. The architect of all this skulduggery is Professor Moriarty.
