Plot Synopsis

True as a Turtle

UneveTiresome nautical romp that is reminiscent of a cross-Channelversion of Genevieve with yachts taking the place of vintage cars. Wendy Toye,who turned out several distinctive short films, directs this flimsy-plottedbreezy comedy photographed in lovely Eastman Colour.

Newlyweds Tony Hudson (John Gregson) and his wife Jane(June Thorburn) attempt to combine their honeymoon with a business trip with clientDudley Partridge (Cecil Parker) on his ageing yacht, "Turtle", to Dinard.Life on the ocean wave results in nautical rivalry between amateur sailors, asTony’s boss, Sir Harold Brazier, is also crossing the channel in his motor yacht,Liberty.

Insurer assessor Harry Bell (Keith Michell) also signsup for the journey to come along as first mate. Once they dock in France, Tonyand Dudley work on painting the ship’s hull, whilst a suspiciously behavingTony slips into town. It soon comes to light that Harry is working for a Frenchcasino and is investigating counterfeit gaming chips. The holidaymakers soonset sail on the return voyage and navigate straight into a pea-soup fog.
