Welcome to Britain
Welcome to Britain – 1943 | 60 mins | Documentary, Propaganda | B&W
Plot Synopsis

Burgess Meredith, a captain in the US Army, is given a roving commission as a Yankee private in Britain. He makes a point of visiting English homes, pubs, schools and places of amusement. As a kind of guide or compere, he shows Americans just what – and what not – to do in Britain, and his observations and experiences are humorously recorded. Examples include a GI taxing the hospitality of an English working-class family, a turn by Beatrice Lillie, a pub scene and an episode in which Bob Hope ‘explains’ the British currency system.
