Plot Synopsis

Woman to Woman

Set during the First World War, an English officer on leave from the trenches falls in love with French ballerina Lola (Betty Compson), but is called back to the front before they can marry – leaving her pregnant. Shell-shocked during the next artillery attack, he loses his memory and returns to England, and marries wealthy socialite. Vesta (Juliette Compton). Years later the ballerina turns up with their son whilst performing on the London stage. There she encounters the father of her child. His memory gradually returns and he is overjoyed to learn that he has fathered a child because his new wife is infertile. Lola takes pity on Vesta, and reluctantly hands over her child to them before dying.
