Apart from playing Vicki, Gavin's girlfriend in the Bouquet Of Barbed Wire sequel Another Bouquet, I 've seen this actress in very little. I remember her being in an advert for Wrigley's chewing gum, at least I think it was that. I saw her in a Somerset Maughan play around 1980 and a ghost story called "The Ice House"with John Stride. Otherwise, I know very little about this actress. It seems likely that she retired from the business in the early eighties.

Does anyone have any information about what she may be up to now?

An Elizabeth Romilly wrote lyrics for the rock band Steamhammer in the 70s .... I don't know if it is the same person.

I'm not sure either Batman. That would be a fairly impressive credit to have to her name if it is her.

I've just been looking at Elizabeth's credits on IMDb. It's a very short list. She appeared in a film with Rod Steiger called "Hennessy" (1975) and in another film called "Secrets Of A Door-to-Door Salesman (1973). She has also guested in an episode of "Rumpole Of The Bailey" from season one called "Rumpole And The Honourable Member", and in an episode of "Leap In The Dark" from season 4, which also starred Keith Barron, Jennie Linden and Rula Lenska, called "Watching Me, Watching You". Finally, she was in an episode of "Play For Today" called "The Cause", which seems to be the last thing she made.

There is no indication as to whether this is the same Elizabeth Romilly who wrote the lyrics to some of Steamhammer's music, but that would be a brilliant credit for her C.V. The timing would be about right too. I don't suppose anyone on this forum would have any idea what she is doing now.

A rare image of Elizabeth, from Another Bouquet: Reprisals (1977). In this scene, she notices James Aubrey's bruised face:

    "Has something happened?" ()

Indeed it has. He's just been punched in the mouth by Frank Finlay. When she finds out why, she blames James ... who gives her a slap!

If you see this post, wellend, I know you're an expert on the series and would like your help with something. Is Gavin's baby daughter (with Pru) called Anna? My reason for revisiting this episode was to try and find Juliette James, an attractive blonde who would have been around 40 at the time. Apart from the regulars, the only other actress I spotted during my scan was Carol Drinkwater. Did I miss something or was there another Juliette James?

Might need to create a new profile if that's the case:
    Juliette James

Great screencap of Elizabeth. I wish I could find out what she is doing now.

Cornershop, Gavin's daughter with Prue was called Eve. Anna, played by Juliette James was one of three of Dr Lewis' girlfriends. She is seen in the same episode as the the screencaps you have posted when Vicky is dropped off by Peter Manson so that Dr Lewis can check the bruising on her face.

Just found some beautiful clips of Elizabeth Romilly as Jessica in ‘The Ice House’ (‘A Ghost Story for Christmas’), in which she appeared with John Stride as Paul. It was shown on Christmas Day, 1978. The clips are part of an excellent article entitled ‘Lost Gems: The Ice House’ at Rob Buckley’s TV blog, [url=http://www.the-medium-is-not-enough.com]The Medium is Not Enough

I’ll add this info to the John Stride thread when I have a chance.

I hoped to find a TVTimes preview/listing for that, NowVoyager, but it was a BBC production so I'm afraid I don't have anything.

Elizabeth is very much in my thoughts at the moment, after being reminded of some of her scenes in Another Bouquet - and it's all down to the mysterious Juliette James! Many thanks for pointing her out in the Reprisals episode, wellend. During my first scan, I probably thought Philip Madoc was with Sheila Allen as the images hurried by, but on closer inspection the actress IS the Juliette James I'm just getting to know. As it's Elizabeth Romilly's thread, I enclose links to two captures of her, this one from the first episode of The Upchat Line (1977), with John Alderton:

Juliette James in 'The Upchat Line'

Looks a bit like Delena Kidd there.

I'll probably post that at 'Bit Part Actresses ...' and this at Philip Madoc's thread:

Juliette James and Philip Madoc in 'Another Bouquet'

They can be seen in the background here as well. What a great shot of Elizabeth!:

She must have done some modelling work in her time. A very 1970s look.

With all that big curly hair, I think she'd be a good choice to play Crystal Tipps:

Many thanks for having a look for 'The Ice House' preview/listing, Cornershop. I always enjoy your contributions to the forum, particularly your wonderful cataloguing of information.

Could I ask a favour which is related to the John Stride thread? I have been trying to get hold of the UK TV Times from April 12, 1975 with John Stride on the cover and an article inside called 'This Man Stride'. Dame Starry kindly uploaded the cover itself, after finding the magazine for sale on the net. But when I went to purchase it, sadly it had already been sold.

Your help would be much appreciated, should you have the time.

Great screencaps Cornershop. Especially of Juliette James in The Upchat Line and of Elizabeth in the foreground looking absolutely lovely.

Elizabeth Blanche Romilly was born in the summer of 1950 in Marylebone, London. Her parents were Giles Romilly and Mary Ball-Dodd.

Giles was a well-known journalist and escapee from Colditz during the War. His mother Nellie Hozier was the sister of Clementine who married Winston Churchill. Giles's brother Esmond married Jessica, one of the famous Mitford sisters.

Giles and Mary were divorced in 1962 and he married again in 1967. Unfortunately, he died the same year in California after taking an overdose.

You can read about him here:

Giles Romilly - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giles and Mary on their wedding day, 11th March 1949:

Elizabeth was one of three children. I found out about her and her siblings at a website on people with the surname Romilly. It seems to be up-to-date as of 2006:

    Lizzie Blanche Romilly (1950)

Lizzie has had a career as an actress; roles included Lois Ardsley in "For Services Rendered" by Somerset Maugham at the National Theatre Lyttelton Stage in 1979, and Breda and Alphonsine in "The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B" by J.P. Donleavy at the Duke of York's Theatre in 1981. She now works as a lawyer in the Government Legal Service, and lives in the East End of London (UK) where she is involved in local campaigns and issues. She also writes.

    Edmund Humphrey Samuel Romilly (1951)
Barrister, previously with Trafalgar Chambers, now practising in Temple Gardens, London, and also a novelist - books include "Skinner" and the forthcoming "The Barn" .

    Crystal Sophia Romilly (1956)
Senior Registrar in Forensic Psychiatry at Oxleas NHS Trust.

    Some other Romillys

So Elizabeth became a lawyer! The above entry also says that she writes but I don't know about what as yet! Elizabeth is now 61 - whether she is still working or now retired I don't know, but she certainly still lives in the London area.

I don't remember Elizabeth Romilly in this, but then again everyone was upstaged by chubby Simon Callow's full frontal.

Oh dear! Poor Simon! But Elizabeth was in it - the reviewer in Plays and Players from 1981 liked her and wrote:

'The most impressive of the smaller parts is Lizzie Romilly's Alphonsine (the au pair). In a long monologue recalling her fiance she gently but firmly turns ridicule to affection, and does so movingly...'

    Right! Here we go!

This is an article from the Daily Mirror, 13th November 1976:

Interesting that she dated her co-star James Aubrey! Elizabeth also says that she was married at 21 but it only lasted 10 days!

The marriage must have taken place in 1971-72 as we know that Elizabeth was born in 1950. The only marriage in the records that fits the description is the one between Elizabeth B. Romilly and Dominic Newbould which took place in Nelson, Lancashire in the summer of 1972.

In this article from the Daily Mirror, 4th October 1980, Elizabeth explains why she shortened her name to Lizzie, which she is still known by to this day:
