There are two female extras I keep seeing and I wondered if anyone on the forum might know who they are.

The first one is tall with dark hair and appears in at least two episodes of The Saint. I have listed the episodes below.

    1. The Counterfeit Countess: I've just watched this episode and her scene is set in a night club in Paris which Philip Madoc owns. While Roger is talking to the barman and then goes to sit with Alexandra Bastedo, she is dancing with a man, wearing a cream dress with black stripes near the bottom. Later as Derek Newmark and Kate O'mara join Roger and Alexandra and they all go to sit down at a table, they pass the dark haired lady and you just get a glimpse of her smoking a cigarette as the camera moves past her.

    2. The Angel's Eye. In the opening sequence where Jane Merrow is showing some tourists around Cranmore House, the extra can be seen again wearing a cream blouse or jacket and her her hair is tied back at the top of her head. As Jane introduces The Angel's Eye as 125 carrot stone, the camera moves towards the extra and she turns to the older woman next to her as the camera passes them both.

She also appears in an episode of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) called That's How Murder Snowballs as one of the dancers. She pops up a few times in this one, especially as Inspector Nelson tries to re-enact the murder scene towards the end of the episode.

The second extra turns up in two episodes of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), one of them also being That's How Murder Snowballs. She is the blonde nurse who brings Jeff his boiled egg right at the end of the episode. She also appears as Mesmero's assistant as he hypnotizes Liz Fraser as Fay Cracken in It's Supposed To Be Thicker Than Water. This extra is on camera quite a lot here. She is wearing a green blouse with a blue scarf that ties her hair up at the back and a medallion.

If anyone can help identify either or both of these extras and put me out of my misery I'd be most appreciative.

    Cheers.

    Wellendcanons.

wellend, the various websites do not really help with these queries as they do not include much (any?) info on the lesser roles. I fear we need screen grabs...

I've managed to track down all of the appearances thanks to wellendcanons' excellent descriptions ...

Here's your Brunette, firstly in The Counterfeit Countess (1967). I'm sure you mean the one on the right:

But who is the Mystery Brunette on the left ...? Unfortunately, focusing on her meant that

(L-R) Roger Moore, Alexandra Bastedo & Derek Newark get their worst ever screencaps!

While in The Angel's Eye (1966) the "older woman" you mentioned may be an even more familiar extra:

No boiled egg I'm afraid but the Mystery Blonde is very prominent in this screencap from the episode

That's How Murder Snowballs (1969). Very little of Mike Pratt sadly but you can still see Kenneth Cope:

By an extraordinary coincidence, I did this capture without realising that I'd be watching the episode

shortly afterwards as this was the next in line in my repeat viewings of the show (on Thursday nights)

An unintentionally suggestive capture featuring the same girl, Dick () Bentley and ... guess who?:

It's none other than Graham Armitage! I had no idea I'd seen him in this (twice) before he became a

DVD star in such shows as The Naked Civil Servant and Ronnie Barker's Seven of One (as his son)

Excellent stills cornershop, capturing from youtube doesn't give a very good picture but there is a small scene from The Counterfeit Countess which shows the woman welland has mentioned.

    Thanks, Freddy

Gertan Klauber, who plays the Barman in that scene, was married to Gwendolyn Watts (loudmouth Rita in the film Billy Liar). Very sadly, both have died within the last ten years. It took me 25 years to learn about this actor. I searched his name on IMDb after seeing him in an episode of The Prisoner and then found all that out.

That "older woman" in the second capture ... I wonder if it could be Barbara Lott (best known as Ronnie Corbett's mum in Sorry!)?

In the same capture the chap on the right looks like Donald Trump.

Looking at IMDb Barbara Lott appears to be quite well known in the sixties, imo it doesn't look like her.

Thanks for thoxe brilliant screencaps Cornershop. You really are a star. Thanks to you, at least everyone can now see these two lovely extras and maybe someone might be able to put a name to either or both of them.

Thanks also to Freddy for posting the scene from The Countefeit Countess on this thread and also to Cully for the advice. Much appreciated. And you have a very good point. Thanks to Cornershop's brilliant - (oh I'm sorry I've already said that - screencaps there is now a realistic chance to identify one or both of them and it's been driving me mad for years....

I was only watching Carry On Matron on Friday night and I looked Gwendolyn Watts up on IMDb. I didn't know until then that she was married to Gertan Klauber. It's really bizarre how activities on this forum seem to overlap. It's a shame that both aren't with us any longer as they have contributed so much towards Film and TV over the years.

It does seem a shame to miss Roger, Kate and Alexandra - three of my favourite stars - but in the circumstances I'm very grateful to you Cornershop.

I'm amazed you spotted the same girls twice. Hopefully they will be identified. I'm also interested in these people from the pre-credit sequence in The Angel's Eye. A pity about the obscured faces, one of whom is the Mystery Brunette you requested. The Asian man is partially-hidden himself in the earlier capture you'll notice, so now it's her turn. Incidentally, Roger Moore's raised eyebrows are directed at beautiful Jane Merrow :

I wouldn't say they are typical examples but there are certain Extras who somehow stand out from all the others. Two of the most distinctive are the red-haired girl and the young black man who blankly stare while The Yardbirds are performing in Blow Up. A recent screencapping session for the Man in a Suitcase episode Three Blinks of the Eyes yielded a couple of massive close-ups of two attractive women watching a circus act. These are just two examples of Extras who've made an impression over the years. The sort who might make us ask 'WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!' ... which I have in mind as the title of my next thread.

    PREVIEW

I recently included another one who made an impression at the 'Anyone Recognise This Actor?' thread,

convinced I'd seen him before, but no-one identified him. He's in a scene from the Ghost Squad episode

High Wire (1961), where William Hartnell is doing his Houdini act, wrapped in chains and under water :

There's just something about that man in the middle which sets him apart from the other faces in these two captures.

Maybe one day he'll turn up in a more substantial role, then I can include him in 'Where Have We Seen Them Before'!

Possible candidate for the nurse: Joanne Dainton

That John Serret has a pretty good resemblance to John Newland, the host of One Step Beyond (which has nothing to do with the original question).

Interesting clip there, Will. A Region 1 DVD of the first season of One Step Beyond was released only two months ago and is currently priced at $34.99 at Amazon.com.

Wearysloth, I can't see any resemblance with either Joanne Dainton or Jean Serret and their 'lookalikes'. I had a look at some scenes of that episode of The Persuaders, which I've seen twice before, earlier on and thought that the nurse might be an Extra but she turned out to be guest star Anne De Vignier (how soon one forgets ). So the screencaps I did won't be suitable for this thread I'm afraid!

Many thanks, Aitch. Here he is again, brought forward just for you. Featuring the man with the turban:

As I hope you will appreciate, it is very difficult to pay attention to Extras like this during a show, or film

(I don't know how wellend does it), but they can look as important as the stars while I'm screencapping

    - look at Roger Moore earlier! By the way, I saw you last night in The Sweeney, being held at gunpoint!

Thanks to everyone for contributing to this thread. It's always interesting to learn any information that manifests itself on this forum and especially from this type of thread.

That's interesting that Aitch remembers working with Mike Stevens who is seen in Cornershop's screencap from The Saint. I'll keep my eye open for him after I've checked his IMDb credits.

I don't think Joanne Dainton was the nurse In Randall & Hopkirk. I thought a blonde Carry On actress from Carry On Camping might have been her. I think her name is Elizabeth Knight, but I'm not sure. However, I'm fairly confident now that it wasn't her.

    And so. . . . The mystery continues. . . . .

    Cheers everyone for your thoughts.

For some reason, (there are conflicting explanations why) the last season of OSB was filmed in England, which is why actors like Christopher Lee and Donald Pleasance appear in those episodes.

I've just spotted the dark haired extra again in an episode of The Saint called "To Kill A Saint". She appears 27mins into the episode and is sitting at a bar in an orange dress talking to a man in a suit and dicky-bow, when Paul Verrier (Peter Dynely) enters the bar. Fellows (Derek Bond) calls him over and then you can see her in the background whilst the two men talk at the bar.

I'm sure I've seen this extra in many more things for ITC which I just can't place at the moment.

So here is another picture of the brunette actress, this time from the Champions episode 'The Iron Man'... where she appeared in a casino scene playing roulette.
