Default Peter Woodthorpe

Sorry to hear the news that actor Peter Woodthorpe died last week aged 72.

Played many parts on film & TV but is probably best remembered as Max the pathologist in the "Inspector Morse" series & also as Reg Trotter, Del Boy's father,in "Only Fools & Horses."

Appeared in movies "The Blue Max","The Evil of Frankenstein","The Skull" & "Hysteria" amongst his many other credits.

A very fine actor.

Dave.

I remember Peter Woodthorpe as, of course, the incomparable voice of Gollum in both the radio and animated film adaptations of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Brilliantly done.

He never seemed to find a place in movies for his eccentric personality, but vinyl captured many fine Shakespearean performances, including a glorious Pistol in Henry IV Part 2 and Henry V.

And, as the previous message indicates, he will be remembered as Max in the Morse series, sadistically needling the blood-shy inspector.

Peter Woodthorpe was a top bloke! Loved his Gollum and loved his Pigsy!

He should have had more acknowledgement for his work on "LOTR"...Like Andy Serkis a great deal, but i grew up with Woodthorpe and his Gollum was in my ears on many a country dog walk as i listened to "LOTR".

I had no idea it as him who played Reg Trotter!
