Default Tony Wright

Tony Wright (1925-1986)was a leading man whom appeared in many movies chiefly during the 50's and 60's.
Once was married to troubled actress Janet Munro.

The brief bio's i have read on his career state that he died due to complications after a fall.

Does anyone have any further details regarding his latter years and that fall?

Was he another 'star'to burn out?

Dave.

Sorry, can't add to what you already know. He was in deed married to Janet Munroe 1956-1961, who although an alleged alchoholic, is reported to have choked to death whilst drinking tea. She in turn had been also married to Ian Hendry, who died prematurely from a heart attack. Early deaths for such a connected trio.

Your suspicions are correct Dave -

He WAS being groomed for stardom, to the point where he was given roles over the heads of established actors. Roles, unfortunately, which he couldn't carry (I'll refresh my memory later and maybe post again on these.)

I think I read somewhere - MUCH later - that he acknowledged his own shortcomings blush and was happy to potter along in lesser roles and TV.

IIRC he turned up in an episode of SYKES somewheres...

Rennie,

Once more I gotta put to bed the myth that JANET MUNRO died from choking while drinking tea. This came from an erroneous newspaper report at the time.
I have janet's death certificate and have talked at length to her brother, mother, sister and daughters. Janet died from a Heart Attack at her home in Lady Margaret Road, Kentish Town, North London

That's right, Liam. Didn't she have myocarditis or some such version of heart failure.

Wow, you have her death certificate - you must be related.

Gibbie,

No not officially related although my daughter was told recently by Janet's brother Alex Jnr that I have been kinda sorta "adopted" by the Munro family. he says that when he wants to know something about the family "he asks me"!!
I have all of Janet's archives, letters, photo albums, birth certificate etc and many of her treasured personal possessions, including her "Charm Bracelet". If you look at many of the publicity photos of Janet for Darby O'Gill, Third Man On The Mountain, Swiss Family Robinson etc etc you will see the Charm Bracelet on her right arm/wrist.
She got it early on in her acting career while in Rep in Preston and thru the years added charms to it ...each representing different roles, movies, tv plays that she appeared in. Many of her co-Stars and friends in the Movie Business gave her charms for the Bracelet..e.g... Walt Disney gave her a Movie camera charm, Gerry O'Hara (asst Director on Third Man) gave her a SWiss Chalet Charm etc etc.It was her most treasured possession and sorta is a chronology of her life and career. The bracelet was given to me by Janet's sister with the approval of the rest of the family and needless to say is now MY most treasured possession.

Cheers
