I live in Barnack which was in Northamptonshire many years ago, then it was in the Soke of Peterborough, and is now in Cambridgeshire. But as the nearest town is Stamford, which is in Lincolnshire, my postal address states that I'm in Lincolnshire!

If you want to keep things simple, don't try to understand postcodes
Have a look at the map of London postcodes and try to figure out why SE2 is so far away from SE1 or why E4 is so far away from E1, E2 & E3.

There is some logic behind it, but it's very strange logic.

I wouldn't profess to be an expert on Richard O'Sullivan's career but the TV part of it seems quite remarkable. Richard, with his oddly askew features, used to be cast as a weasel or slightly geeky foil for the bullying humour of the other doctors in his first big TV break, Doctor in the House & other places.

Somehow he transformed himself into a 'sex symbol' in his later career. What an actor and what a driving force he must have been. Maybe he learned something from Belinda Lee...........

Man about the House is good because you get a good look around the old Elstree studios complex before the bulldozers moved in.You go into the bar ,still there, and have a little trip round the administration building, sadly now gone.Sad to hear about Richard ,he was a big star and great child actor ,funds should be in place to look after our talented people who fall on hard times.Britmovie set up a fund....Paula is in Emmerdale at the moment

I SAY THERE BOY!

Man About the House has the honour of generating more spin-offs than just about anything else, ever.

The original series of Man About the House (1973-76) about the 2 girls and a guy sharing a flat had a spin off movie of the same name Man About the House (1976) and the series George and Mildred (1976-79) about their landlords and a follow up series, Robin's Nest (1977-81) as a "what they did next".

The original series was remade in the States as Three's Company (1977-84) which led to the spin-off series The Ropers (1979-80) about the landlords and a follow up series, Three's a Crowd (1984-85) as a "what they did next".

The original series was also remade in The Netherlands, Sweden and Norway.

That's quite a retirement fund for the series creators and writers, Brian Cooke and Johnny Mortimer

Thats quite sad to hear of Richard O'Sullivan's present situation, I guess the demon alchohol (too much of it) has a lot to answer for as it sounds like that was instrumental in his health problems. I recall an early film appearance by O'Sullivan as Mia Farrow's "companion" in "A Dandy in Aspic"
I thought Man about the House was highly entertaining but how funny to think the situation it portrayed was daring, nowadays young people share flats through financial neccessity and its the norm to have a mixed household especially in London.
I guess O'Sullivan's change of circumstances is a text book example of how up and down the acting profession can be.

Jacobean: Thanks for the up to date photo of Richard O'Sullivan. I have to say he certainly looked well at that time. I had visions of him being bent and twisted. with long hair and a beard. Thankfully I was wrong.

Does anyone know if he has any living family. Was he ever married? Any kids?
