Julian! Thank you so much for spotting this. In addition to Muriel's Eyewitness, it has Tiger in the Smoke, neither of which I've seen. Yippee!Originally Posted by julian_craster
Sir Donald looks pretty dishy on the cover of the boxed setand although he is older now, he is just a lovely and charming man in person in addition to supporting some excellent causes.

'Tiger in the Smoke' is a brilliant film ! (especially the first hour)
One of director Roy Baker's best films...Mr Baker was clearly a frequenter of the Royal Court Threatre in the mid-1950s - keen viewers will particularly enjoy some of the Samuel Beckett imagery.....
Two beautiful portraits of the lovely Muriel

Here's a wierd and wonderful photo of Muriel, aged 31, at Pinewood Studios in 1952, showing off the inflatable space suit used in the film 'The Net', in which she played Caroline Cartier alongside Phyllis Calvert, James Donald, Herbert Lom and Robert Beatty.

In 1996, aged 75, Muriel appeared in an episode of Poirot - The Dumb Witness - as the batty Julia Tripp, with Pauline James as her sister Isabel.
...and at the other end of the scale, here's a nice photo of the 15 year old Muriel.

There are not many actors who started in British films in the 1930s (Muriel Pavlow , Betty Driver, Googie Withers - any more ? ) left - we should cherish them......
Quite agree Julian. Others I can think of off-hand would be Jean Kent, Renee Asherson, Leslie Phillips. They represent what is left of our living film heritage and should certainly be recognised as such. They have all given so much to the development of British film. I know Muriel has also given her time to help support and promote the British Film Institute.Originally Posted by julian_craster

Gerald, can you track down Donald Pickering's uncredited appearance, please, and perhaps post it at his obituary thread? Thank you in advance.
Two great photos, thanks cornershop!and thanks for your kind words Barbara. It does take time, you're right, but it's more a labour of love really! Having had a soft spot for Muriel for many years now, it is nice to be reminded of her many achievements as her career developed as I look around for interesting articles and photos of her. It's also reminded me of how good she was too.

As a result of cornershop's information, I thought I would post this photo from 'Doctor At Large' which, on the face of it, looks quite sinister! In fact, Simon and Joy are creeping up to the changing cublicles where Charles Hopwood (Ernest Jay) is trapped, having been falsely accused of accosting a female bather! The pair use their knives to prise open the back of the cubicle to allow Hopwood to escape! Sadly, Ernest Jay died before this film was released.
Muriel, then aged 25, as Marion Decker with Robert Newton as Captain David Grant in the 1946 film Nightboat To Dublin. In the first shot, Muriel has just mistakenly whacked Robert over the head with a vase, knocking him out!
and here, she is seen tending an injury

Wonderful shots. I'm not used to seeing Robert Newton look so benign.Originally Posted by Number Six
Love it! The pic of Simon and Joy from Doctor at Large has disappeared? but thanks for posting it.
I suspect a good many film buffs have a soft spot for Ms. Pavlow. I admire her talent and also incline toward her because of her work with Bogarde and their very long friendship. That makes her even more special in my book.
All best,
Barbara
Try again - I moved my images across to a different folder and forgot to re-new the link! Sorry!
