Hi bett'eric,

I believe Derek Bond may still be with us.
What a great 'typically British'actor.

Nice picture of a younger Derek Bond at-

Dave.

Thank you David. That is a nice picture of Derek in his youth, and I wasn't quite sure what he looked like, but of course, now I remember.

Hi Tony,

I couldn't even put a face to the name, I kept on thinking of Dirk Bogarde, but as soon as I saw the picture then of course I remembered him.

Viewed most of the British films when I was living in Glasgow, Scotland. A few in Staylybridge, near Manchester England.

Would it be possible for me to purchase the Encyclopedia of British Film here in Canada somewhere. No doubt on the net.

James,

What a wonderful moment in time for you to be speaking to Derek.

I'm green with envy. lol

If you happen to speak to him again, will you tell him Betty from Canada (born in Scotland) says hello, and how much I enjoyed his work in films.

Thanks.

Hi again James,

I corresponded with Margaret Lockwood, and she mailed me a lovely letter, and told me about the experiences she had making films with Stewart Granger and James Mason, et tal, and the fun they all had.

"Those were the days."

Hi James,

Was looking for the letter I received from Margaret to check the date on it, but can't find it, yet. I'll search more tomorrow.

However, I do believe it was quite some time ago that I received it.

When did she pass away?

July 15th, 1990. I think my letter dates from 1986. It is 200 miles away so I cannot check it. I have letters from Athene Seyler, Ian Dalrymple, Emlyn Williams, Charles Chrichton and Deborah Kerr from around that time. I am hopefully going to record this audio commentary for The Captive Heart (1946) with Derek Bond and possibly Douglas Slocombe. I have found Margot Fitzsimons in Virginia state and she too would like to participate but that could be difficult.

Hi James,

Finally found Margaret's letter, but all she has for the date is "Sept.9" no year.

Here's a paragraph from the letter....

"I met him (James Mason) a couple of years ago at some "do" where I presented him with an award. I told him how mellow and benign he had become. So different from his youth. He had happy memories of The Wicked Lady, and couldn't believe it when I told him I hated every moment of it."

Margaret enclosed a nice signed postcard size picture of herself.

Hi Jim,

In order to get a letter from the stars you have to write a letter to them. lol

Whose your favorite actor and I'll see if I can find her/his address for you.
