Default actors/actresses that make you cringe

A post inspired by Bobj in another section(moments that make you squirm)sic
There are some actors that no matter how you try, no matter what they do, you simply CANT STAND THEM! ,so here's a chance to vent your anger at your pet peeves:
some of mine,
SEAN BEAN (no one will ever convince me this man can act)
HUGH (PLANK) GRANT,
ROBERT CARLYLE stated elsewhere,
there are quite a few others but lets hear yours
cheers Ollie.

It would have to be those celebs/pop stars who crossover into films without a modicum of talent.

Patsy Kensit?
Liz Hurley?
Sting?
The whole cast of The Avengers? (never has there been so much over-acting in one film)

For some reason I can't figure, because I know he was a fine actor, Jack Lemmon.
A friend of mine has a strong aversion to Danny Kaye - a pity 'cos I love him!

Julie Walters:I know she is a favouriteof many people, but I just can't stand her.
Any actor or actress who makes a complete fool of themselves at award ceremonies:
Vanessa Redgrave's political statement on her oscar win for Julia scold
Jane Fonda's acceptance speech in sign language (no disrespect against deaf people)
James Cameron's insistence for a minutes silence forthe victims of the Titanic
Michael Moore's over egged tirade at his acceptance speech for Bowling For Columbine (I'm all for free speech, but I don't think awards ceremonies or any celebration of the genre is a place for political broacdcasts)

VIRGINIA MAYO
i wonder what paul newman thought in the Silver Challice <flop>
and burt lancaster in the Flame and the arrow
having to work with a third rater did their career no good
and poor alan ladd <shorty> having to work with shorter actors stand on a higher level to give impression he was taller
Still thats show business

It's a shame about Liz Hurley, I remember seeing her in one of her first roles as Christabel Bielenberg in the tv play Christabel, first shown in 1988. She seemed to have much promise in what was a very good play, so unlike her status now.

James Stewart would definitely be on my 'hit list' - that man's voice grates on me! Stewart Granger was another I couldn't abide. Sorry to fans of these two!

There are some actors that no matter how you try, no matter what they do, you simply CANT STAND THEM!**** ,so here's a chance to vent your anger at your pet peeves:
Where can I start.........okay I'll stick to British ones:

Emma Thompson - reminds me of the goody goodie girl at school who was 15 going on 45 and always got in the school play in a leading role, and Katherine Hepburn she's not! Too self conscious!
Jane Horrocks - pretentious- moi? Should change her name to Horlicks!
Jack Haig - could not act!
Hugh Grant - what is he all about, 45 going on 15, if he looks into the camera any more he could get a job reading the early evening news!
Kenneth Branagh - looks and sounds too much like a parody of an old time actor, so you never see the character he's playing. Like Arsene Venger he needs to get over himself!
Cheryl Campbell - Googie Withers parody (on acid)!
Ross Kemp- can only play Ross Kemp
Robson Green - no credibility whatsoever apart from Tucker in Soldier Soldier, can't watch him at all!
Clive Owen - Ross Kemp with Brylcreem!
Roger Moore - should have got the title roles in Pinnochio or The Wooden Horse!
Julie Walters - I just don't like her, especially in Talking Heads, Educating Rita, Buster and those stupid adverts as a pixie for a supermarket! She just isn't funny in comedy and isn't convincing in serious roles!
Peter Dean (Peter Beale on Eastenders) - (stweuth) can't act won't act
Sir Robert Hardy - must be Kenneth Branagh's role model
Richard Burton - if in doubt, SHOUT!
Stanley Baker - Patrick Allen without the charisma!
John Forgeham - Good in The Italian Job (not many lines) and as Jim Baines in Crossroads, but is a very self-conscious actor indeed! Regional dialects not his stong point and sounds like he's been trying to practice them beforehand whilst looking in the mirror! Best role in Prime Suspect as a senior detective who died of a heart attack within the first few minutes of Episode 1.

All the above definitely have the cringe factor, and there are many more I'm sure.
If it included the U.S. then the list would be endless!

LAURENCE HARVEY IN THE FILM OF 'ROOM AT THE TOP'. IF HE WAS A 'YORKSHIRE MAN' THEN I AM A MARTIAN. WORST PIECE OF CASTING EVER.

Everyone has a go at poor old Larry for his French Canadian trapper's accent in 49th Parallel. It sounds like the most appaling comedy French accent until Inpector Clouseau. But I think it really was quite accurate. He did have a French-Canadian trapper as a dialogue coach & remember that these are men who were away from civilisation for some time. Don't just compare them to even a Quebec accent. Who knows what a French Canadian trapper really sounds like?

OK, like all of the old British theatrical luvvies, he was a bit of a proclaimer, but he could be subtle when the part needed it.

Laurence Olivier!? Richard Burton!? Antony Hopkins!? Are you people mad? You sound like a load of old women squawking over the garden fence and what is more you're not talking out of your mouths.

Sure people can have bad days at work sometimes - don't we all?

Most of the actors you've mentioned do a grand job in entertaining people. If you can do better - then do it. If not, shut up and discuss something constructive and enlightening. This sounds more like an episode of Eastenders, bitchin' bitchin' bitchin'.
I know what I'm talking about after my one and only performance in front of the camera and I can assure you, it is not as easy as we all think it is.

Let me get this clear. You are running down actors of the top class.
Got to agree with JW on those 3 in particular.

One does wonder who their critics consider to be good!
