Hi Smudge,
I actually meant to post the above text as a follow on in the sexiest actresses post but hit the new topic button in error. Too many options on here I think. Yes she s always been one of my favourites. Her first appearence I believe was in a 1958 film "Bachelor Party" set in Cambridge. She plays an upper crust student with an accent not dissimilar to female Terry Thomas !!! Amazing to think of her future roles then. She did have some varied parts but I would like to see more of the Italian made movies. Goodness knows how you d get hold of them though, a real rarity. Rick |

Jenny Agutter will be the subject of a twelve film retrospective at the Bradford Film Festival (4-19 March 2005) including some rarely screened items plus a live talk on stage about her career by the lady herself on Saturday 5 March at the National Museum of Photography Film and Television. For details of the whole event see www.bradfordfilmfestival.org.uk

For me some of the sexiest actresses come from the black and white era of British films; Brenda de Banzie the elder daughter in Hobson's Choice and Archie Rice's better half in The Entertainer, and Liz Fraser who appeared sometimes in Hancock's Half Hour and a few Carry Ons, and Shirley Eaton of course.
If European actresses count then the sexiest of all time has to be Luciana Paluzzi (born 1937) the red headed baddie Fiona Volpe in Thunderball!

On the European vote ; and in a very similar vein, I would second the nomination for Miss Paluzzi and nominate her Bond babe-in-arms Daniela Bianchi of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.
Is it me or were those earlier Bond ladies that much more sexy ? SMUDGE

Have you noticed that modern designer dresses suit only the skinniest of women? They're easier to make if you've no shape to fit them to, that's why curvy hips and full busts are out because the designers can't make anything that skilful any more!

Yes Sam, you're right there ; sadly that age of elegance and mystique has long since gone.
Now it's all ladettes out on a Friday night, drunk and 'on the pull'. It usually ends in catfights, tears and arguing in taxis around 2am... SMUDGE

You described the answer well. I think it is more than fashion. People don't have the character that they used to have (that goes for men as well). Women are not as feminine as they used to be. It is rare to find the deep femininity that used to be in all classes to varying degrees. In various places I have met women from various backgrounds that are not post-postmodern, who still have shades of soft femininity. How that has changed in the states is that women follow the Hollywood thing too much and actually try to be too much like boys. I think you stated it much better with your example. (Ladies) If you want a critique of guys, just watch one of the contemporary sit coms (Huh!) True femininity brings out the best in a woman and that's why all this chatter is quite sentimental toward the past. |

If I can nominate an Aussie actress as the sexiest woman of all time it has got to be Nicole Kidman, very beautiful and a damn good actress too! She's Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn and Bette Davis rolled into one!
I'm not surprised life with Tom didn't work out, she can play any character under the sun while he can only play Tom Cruise! It would have been like an opera diva living with someone who just did a bit of karaoke singing in the pub!

I had an exhibitionist next door neighbour once who was her spitting image, which is probably why I'm such a fan!
