I read in the paper only this week that 10 per cent of nurses want (shall we say) closer proximity with patients. I was in our local hospital last year for a full week but it was suffering 10 per cent staff shortage - that must have been the ten per cent

When I was in hospital with a burst appendix, my only stay in hospital so far, we were attended to by naughty Greta the night nurse. She was tall, blonde and German. But she wasn't really very naughty - only when she allowed us to get up to some naughtiness that we weren't strictly allowed to do.

My eternal thanks to the staff at Kingston hospital. The NHS at its finest

Just watch her walking along by the train in Some Like it Hot.

In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes she puts on a great show but I actually like to watch Jane Russell as she sits back and admires "the new kid in town" at work
