Always liked Googie myself.
I see that her and her husband John McCallum were born only 2 days apart. They celebrated their 90th birthdays this year and will celebrate their Diamond Wedding next year - both incredible achievements in their profession I think.

Some of those early Michael Powell films that are being mentioned on another thread have her playing comic roles very well. Particularly in The Love Test (1935)

She then did a series of dressy, elegant roles and it was a revelation to the critics when she appeared again for Powell in One of Our Aircraft is Missing without any (obvious) makeup, dressed in dungarees and gives a most memorable performance.
