Well Starry Eyed,
I must admit she looks a bit matronly in your pic.
I did only say she was elegant. Not quite up to the incandescent standard of the ladies that this page was born to immortalise. Using this criteria (and referring to a very popular lady of a certain age) dare I risk incurring the wrath of the entire readership by saying that Helen Mirren is also getting a bit "crinkly around the edges"! Bet the rules change now. I am going to hire protection after this one hits your screens..

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

Well you know, some men actually LIKE 'matronly', EG!

You may well be right about Dame Helen - but there's something very 'earthy' and 'real' about her and she's admired by men and women alike; she's not afraid to be herself.
You are as entitled to your opinion as anybody else - that's what 'Forums' are all about.

Brought in Dame Helen rather mischievously but no one appears to be biting! Have to agree that she vastly outshines the usual luvvy showbiz types and appears quite unspoiled by her cherished position within the hearts of the nation. A national treasure.

Dame Helen was one of my 'teenage lust objects' and I think she is just as sexy now as she was in those far off days, crinkles and all. I wish I had time to dig out some pics but I'll have to do that later .... the park beckons!

I was always greatly attracted to Senta Berger in the spy film she made with George Segal. Sha managed to combined the sex appeal of a sex kitten with the compassion of a mother, as well as the innocence of a school girl. It is a pity she has not appeared in more movies.

Did Helen Mirren appear in many movies/TV productions when as young as she is depicted in your smaller picture ? I do recall seeing her on black and white TV once when she was in a play that strongly featured miscegenation ( she would have, wouldn't she ! ), but I never recall seeing her appear at that age in any colour movies. Perhaps it was just a publicity photograph ?
