Default Posthumous screen appearances

Having just watched Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (an interesting piece of SFX) which features Laurence Olivier, I was wondering how many other posthumous screen appearances people can recall. The one that instantly springs to mind is Peter Sellers outakes used in the dire Trail of the Pink Panther after his death.

The one which springs to mind for me is Oliver Reed in Gladiator. Apparantly they used some computer enhancements, some unused parts and they edited his lines to give new scenes. It is very difficult, even impossible to see where this has been done.

During filming of "The Crow" star Brandon Lee was killed due to a prop gun accident, the subsequent scenes of the leading man were completed by digitally compositing his face onto a body double.I personally think that Brandon Lee was on the verge of huge stardom with this film......shame.

"and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock"

Natalie Wood in "Dreamscape" died during production....they re-shot a few scenes...had a stand in...shot over the stand-ins shoulder (so you couldn't see her face)...etc etc....

Vic Morrow was actually killed on set during the making of the "Twilight Zone" but that didn't stop them continuing making the movie with him in it...(his daughters got a pay-out from the film company..one of them is Jennifer Jason Leigh)

Didn't Brandon Lee also die on set?

And Bela Lugosi died during the infamous "Plan 9...." but they replaced him with a chiropractor over 6 foot tall who kept a cape over his face so you couldn't see it wasn't Bela....(although the extra foot in height was a bit of a giveaway)

And...if I flog me memory real hard...didn't the actress who played "The Oracle" die during the filming of "The Matrix"...(or one of the seemingly endless follow-ups)?

But for real chuztpah, look no further than our own Hugh Grant, an actor whose perfomances continually add to the rumor and speculation that he did indeed die during the making of Russells' "Lair of the White Worm"....I believe he has most recently been seen in "Shaun of the Dead" in one of the crowd scenes.....and in Gosford Park as the "third tree from the left"....

If they ever re-make Eric Sykes "The Plank".....at least they'll know who to cast in the title role...

Easy mistake to make mate.....Tonys last part was in "Love Actually", which was also released under the title "Richard Curtis's Greatest Hits"....now sadly found in the "money for old rope" section of Blockbusters.
