Default Forbush and the Penguins (1971) Leading lady?

Reading Bryan Forbes' autobiography, I'm intrigued that the early John Hurt vehicle Forbush and the Penguins had to be extensively re-shot, and the leading lady replaced by Hayley Mills...but can anybody tell me who was the original leading lady who was so 'unsuitable' after the early rushes she was replaced?

Hello David,
Sorry I can't help you on this one but I have seen this twice, both times on tv, stupidly without vcr. It is a highly enjoyable film though I had forgoten about Hayley Mills. Interestingly the uncredited Director was her partner of 5 years Roy Boulting who she then married in 1971, the year this was released. Also noticed on IMDb was the fact that there were two other directors as well, could it be a case of too many chiefs.

regards
Freddy
ps John Hurt is also an Everton fan.

The world wags on.

That's true, considering you and Mr Hurt do not support my team - Merseyside's most famed underdog, Tranmere Rovers. (This is a film site, not a football one - ed)

If only the truth was as interesting as fiction...sadly no, it's a complete co-incidence that I am the namesake of this (semi) famous footballer who played for Tranmere a few years ago - though its had my friends and (footy) acquaintances also asking me! I was as amused to see his name in the 1997 squad as my mum was when she sent me the local paper sports clipping. However, for those in the know about the club (like you Parsley), I grew up a Dave Challinor-throw from the Prenton Park ground (Greenbank Road)...and when they reached the League Cup final at Wembley in 1999 I attended - they lost but it was one of the WEIRDEST things I'll ever experience to hear 27,000 people singing ''oooo-aaaaahhhh Davey Challinor, oooo-aaaaahhhhh Davey Challinor''....he's now playing for Bury I believe

Gola gave gave out Dave Challinor towels before the final, still got mine somewhere.

I think I may have walked down Greenbank Rd a few weeks ago after meandering down to the ground from Rock Ferry station.

I saw your post about the cinema on Borough Road, you didn't have far to go!
