I certainly enjoyed his 'Welsh' cop series but for the great stuff he has enhanced, every time I see him I just keep being reminded of that terrible cut to stunt man in Jeff Randall's office. The cast of Randall and Hopkirk were so wonderful and ethereal but were perhaps let down by the production values of a skinflint producer IMHO ?

Yes, I agree. The stuntman who doubled for Philip was very obvious to say the least. I can't help noticing that.

Terrific actor. He doesn't appear to be physically large, yet he often dominated the screen with a brooding, sinister presence - backed up of course by that wonderfully deep Welsh timbre. I first really noticed him as Patrick Mower's boss in Target where his quiet gravitas really came to the fore.

Billy's TV Times excerpt reminded me that Philip is fluent in many languages and is a qualified interpreter. But I had never realised until now that he was the husband of Hi-De-Hi's Ruth Madoc!!

I don't think he was, insofar as they divorced in 1981 I believe, before she hit Holiday Camp paydirt.
