Yes, the person who broke into my car a few years ago!
Hi.
I know with a lot of us, a lot of the stars we like have gone, so if we don`t have their autographs, tough lol (unless you buy them at a price.)
But is there anyone`s scribble you are still after?
I was going to write and ask Chris Lee for his, but apparently he only gives a stamp.
xx

Yes, the person who broke into my car a few years ago!
Hi,
I have a mystery on this subject. To intricate to tell the whole story. Saw a show called The Everly Bros. & Bo Diddley Show. Little Richard (a fantastic performer) joined the tour that night, and an early version of The Rolling Stones were also on the same bill. Afterwards I did some autograph hunting. I asked someone to sign my book. And he did. When I got around to viewing the book, instead of being signed by one of the Everly Brothers, it was signed Joey Page.
A few years ago, Radio 2 had a show called Rockin' With Suzie Q. Suzie Quatro would have a spot where she would ask for a listener's rock 'n' roll memory, then play a record for them. I wrote in with some more detail than here about this incident. She did read it out one week. She then continued by saying that my story had given cause for some research. Apparently, Joey Page (their bass guitarist) did substitute for one of the brothers during part of the tour, due to an ilness. I was close up to the man, and would swear it was one of the brothers. It was 1963. I know things went a bit sour for the act and there was a split. So now I do not know if I have an Everly Brother autograph signed Joey Page, or a Joey Page autograph signed by an Everly Brother. As Suzie said, Joey was part way through the tour, a temporary Everly. I wonder if I was witnessing part of the sourness that eventually caused the split.
I did get Jerome Green's autograph. He was in Bo Diddley's act. I think to myself however, how many people have acquired a possible Everly Brother autograph signed Joey Page and another by the man who played maracas for Bo Diddey, all in one night?
PS. It looks like I am back. Had some technical problems. But I appear to be contributing again.

i got 4 autographs off christopher reeves when i worked at pinewood studios many years ago
i'd prefer to have a chat with a star rather than get an autograph, the only famous person i've ever talked to other than liverpool fc footballers is gloria hunniford! i've seen loads of actors but would never invade their privacy.
I think I'd rather have a letter signed by an actor or writer or someone, rather than just their name... but I suppose that would involve writing to them first. Actually, I did write to Leslie Phillips about "Hello", but answer came there none, but maybe it never got past some 20 year old at the publishers who just thought "There's no Leslie Phillips here"
I used to have an autograph book, but it walked ... I think the best 2 in it were Leslie Crowther and Richard Murdoch.
(and I'd like to echo jim21's post below ... if you can echo something that comes later)

I have Jack Hedley's x 2 and Charles Dance. I wrote to Charlie and to my surprise, he wrote a very nice letter in reply. I'd like Judi Dench, but have yet to get hers.
Hi,
Fascinating my story might be, but at the time, it was frustrating for me. However, one thing I will add, which was also frustrating. People were absoloutly knocked out by an exceptional performance by Little Richard. Hoping to get his autograph, I stood with my friends, at a particular spot. Whilst waiting, it was observed that there was a group van nearby, with both members of the band and some girls inside. People were going up to the van for autographs. The band members were quite friendly and were pleased to sign autographs. I did not wish to miss getting Little Richard's autograph. So I stayed put. Therefore I never got the band's autographs. They had only just had at least one hit record. I was not sure how long they would last, or would they be a flash in the pan? Had I went up to them, I would have got the autographs of Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. The Rolling Stones! As far as Little Richard was concerned, he came out at another doorway. So I never acquired his autograph. But as someone who did indulge in rock 'n' roll music on vocals and piano, he was a big influence. I am not as good though and could never be. He was superb.
As they say, "A bird in the hand, is worth two in the bush."
I take up what someone else has said. As I have aged and matured, I have become less star struck and have looked upon stars as people with the same human entitlements as we all have. On occasions, I have found it more interesting to talk to a celebrity, than to just get a signature. They are entitled to their privacy.

Hi,
Thanks for your comments.
Alan French.
You used to be able to get autographs from his official website - but he charges about £50 and i don't know if they're dedicated either.
Supposedly he got the hump after finding out that photographs he was signing for "fans", were then being sold on Ebay - which is why the charge.
Jenny Agutter is great. She charges a small fee which goes to charityAnd she specifies that the photo must be dedicated
Which is great for fans, and puts off those who are just looking to sell the photo on for a quick profit
![]()
Just for clarification - Jenny asks for a donation to one of her favourite charities rather than charging a small fee that is given to charity. That also has the advantage that UK tax payers can make a gift aid declaration to allow the chosen charity to claim a further 28%.
As markrgv says, photos will be dedicated to an individual or group to try to prevent alleged fans selling on ebay.
I didn`t know any stars charged for their autographs!
Do MOST people charge now?
When I become a famous writer I will let you all have mine free of charge.
